Với những nguyên liệu dễ kiếm và cách làm không quá khó là bạn đã có thịt xá xíu ngon dành cho cả nhà, có thể ăn kèm với bánh mì hoặc với mì hoành thánh hay cơm rang thịt xá xíu, đơn giản mà rất ngon.
Thịt heo mua về rửa sạch, nên chọn thịt nạc vai hoặc nạc mông, cắt miếng to, mỏng. Ướp thịt với tỏi băm, muối, tiêu và một chút rượu trắng cùng với gói gia vị thịt xá xíu. Để thịt khoảng 1 đến 2 giờ cho ngấm. Khi gần được thì bạn bật sẵn lò nướng 220 độ C. Bọc khay nướng bằng giấy bạc, trải thịt lên khay, cho thịt vào nướng 20 phút. Trong khi nướng thịt, chuẩn bị phần rau ăn kèm bánh mì: Dưa leo ngâm nước muối 15 phút, vớt ra để ráo rồi thái mỏng, trộn với chút muối. Xà lách nhặt từng tàu, rửa sạch, bỏ gân lá.
Rạch một đường ở giữa bánh mì, lần lượt xếp rau, dưa chuột, thịt xá xíu vào, rưới sốt xá xíu lên. Bánh mì nóng ăn với tương ớt rất ngon.
